The museum facility was established in 2001, while the opening to visitors took place in 2010. The main head of the museum was prof. Jan Pazdur, historian, director of the Provincial State Archives in Kielce and a member of the Institute of the History of Material Culture of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The museum occupies 8 hectares of former industrial areas, where thematic permanent exhibitions are located. These include: - "Blast furnace plant from 1841", which includes preserved buildings of the former engine room and the funnel hall. Between them was a set of three blast furnaces, demolished at the beginning of the 20th century, - "Blast Furnace from 1899" along with the technological line of railway tracks and a gicht tower supplying materials for smelting pig iron. The presented machines include reciprocating blower, manufactured in Riga by the company Klein Brothers Machine Construction Company, manual gantry from 1898. The furnace itself was extinguished in 1968, - "Iron ore mining", organized in the building of the water tower. It includes exhibits related to the extraction of iron ore in the Świętokrzyskie region, dating back to its history two thousand years back, - "Automotive technology", dedicated to the history of the "Star" Truck Factory. The exhibits include, among others the following car models: Star 20, Star 200, Star 266R - participant in the Paris-Dakar Rally and Star 660 - a replica of the only Polish papamobile, from Wiór, Sołtyków, Zapniów, Błazin, Wierzbica and Bałtów. In addition, reptile models are exhibited. There is also a Working Group of the Sandstone working at the museum, dealing with paleontological exploration of the rock's seams, - "Archeopark. Settlement of Ancient Iron Metallurgy" - outdoor exhibition, including reconstruction of the settlement from the beginning of our millennium. Its members include, among others smoke furnace, hut: blacksmith, goldsmith, amber craftsman, weavers, apartment houses, pagan temple as well as hut of legionnaires and hut of Roman. Archaeological Picnics "Iron Roots" are organized in the settlement. In addition, the museum organizes numerous temporary exhibitions and cultural events. It also has a wide range of educational services for children and adolescents.
