Address: ul. Krakowska , Szydłów

A 14th-century defensive fortification that once guarded the entrance to the city. It is the only one preserved from among the three once defensive gates. Its upper floors were rebuilt in the 16th century into a Renaissance style. The Krakow Gate is one of the most valuable examples of the development of a medieval defense system. At the top it has an attic and two circular turrets. Between the recesses of the upper floor there are two rectangular windows, and in the semi-circular recesses of the attic, four shooting ranges. Stone stairs placed in the western wall led to the guard pavement in the defensive walls. The forward part of the gate has a vaulted arch in which an iron harrow was used to close the gate from the inside. A drawbridge connected to her. From the outside, the gate was closed in the form of oak towers. A square foregate - extended outside and connected to the proper gate defended the entrance, protecting the former, existing in the city, drawbridge chain bridge. In 2011, the Krakow Gate along with a significant fragment of the defensive walls was renovated with co-financing from European funds.
